Lucy comes to us from a family member’s unexplained epileptic seizure. In researching possible supports, and the desire for a family dog, we stumbled upon Golden Golden Opportunities for Independence(GOFI), a beautiful organization, that has a long history of breeding and training assistance dogs for community resource, like police departments, facilities like nursing homes and for Individual needs. These dogs are bred and trained to give the best hope and help to everyone they encounter. Although we didn’t need a specific assistance dog, we decided one of these beautiful puppies would be a wonderful addition to our family.
At 18 months old Lucy still needs lots of training, mostly because of “user error!” but is still only a puppy. The greatest training she can receive is socialization with other dogs. We returned to Off The Leash after spending many years with our previous beloved border collie. Emily and the staff have created an amazing environment for these pups to be their best! Lucy jumps up at the phrase, “Do you want to go see your friends?” She hops in the car excited for her adventure at Off The Leash with both her fur friends and the amazing staff friends. They treat each dog with such love, kindness and respect. We are grateful we have a place like Off The Leash who accepts Lucy as a part of their own family as we do.
